ABOUT BESOT DEVCONSULT SERVICES

Besot DevConsult Services (BDS) is a group of experienced development practitioners providing social, agricultural, rural development and management consultancy services to companies, non-profit organizations, government agencies, multinational companies, and individuals in and outside Nigeria. The company was formed to respond to a recognized need for quality capacity building of institutions (Public & Private), and development intervention agents and communities to engender desired sustainable development. BDS is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and presently, it has a strategic office located in the Federal Capital Territory and Asaba, Delta State.

BDS is to be a foremost name in development consulting in Nigeria with international recognition.
Our mission is to facilitate people (male and female) oriented development, maximize available resources (human, financial, technical and materials) and ensure sustainable living.

The objectives of BDS are to:

  • Assist government and its agencies to provide practical development through facilitation of issues based governance
  • Build the capacity of communities to embark on self-motivated development programmes.
  • Render supportive services to development intervention agencies to help them achieve success in their desired areas of intervention
  • Empower the people (especially the rural poor), to be economically viable and productive in order to live above poverty through programmes and activities that will harness their collective ideas and efforts.
  • Render services geared towards ensuring sustainable environmental and natural resources management
  • Provide organizations development services to institutions and agencies to make them effective and efficient in their work.
  • Provide services that will promote food and livelihood security and increase income of the people.

The activities of Besot DevConsult Services include but not limited to the following areas

BDS has crop of veritable development professionals of various backgrounds who have acquired many years of practical field experiences at various levels. They have skills in various participatory methodologies such as RRA, PRA and PLA as well as in facilitating problem-solving, reaching consensus, creating plans, needs assessments, designing and implementing projects, training of community development workers and managers of institutions and organizations. Many of them have worked in various management capacities with reputable organizations before joining the pool of Besot DevConsult Services. At various capacities the team members have rendered services to various governments and its agencies, organizations and programmes such as oil companies, nonprofit organizations World Bank, DFID, LEEMP, UNDP, coalition groups, local and state governments.

This assignment was a survey conducted in three states to:
-Generate information on the state of existing technical skills training centres in the three states(needs assessment of Skills training centres and determine the current situation of existing vocational training centres and job creation opportunities)
-Determine the relevance of the training courses being provided by the centres in terms of marketability
-Identify the various income generating activities and job creation opportunities available in theareas,
-Identify and profile the activities of existing job creation agencies in the states
-Recommend viable business investment opportunities and job creation strategies for theNiger Delta.


United Nations Office for Project Services [UNOPS]

The assignment involved training of selected community development and Agric extension officers on mobilization, community needs assessment and participatory project planning to enable them effectively work with community members in analyzing their needs and guiding their development process.


IFAD/FGN Community Based Natural ResourcesManagement Programme [CBNRMP]

The main objective of this assignment was to develop a project funding proposal that meets the MDGs conditional grant scheme criteria and secure maximum funding.Also, the assignment included preparation of service delivery gap analysis report and community needs assessment report.


Delta and Kwara State Government

The assign ment was to produce a comprehensive MDGs report for the state that captures developmental progress, in each of the eight goals, identify challenges and recommend steps to improving performance.


Delta State Government

Production of a comprehensive database of information on socioeconomic and infrastructural needs of communities within the FCT in order to provide a basis for development intervention,monitoring and evaluation of FCT's development activities.


FCT MDGs Office

Preparation of a 10-year development plan aimed at creating effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery through maximization of available resources (human, material and financial) and adoption of constructive strategies that will enhance the implementation of plan.

-Conduct of community needs assessment -Prioritizing of community needs and aspirations.
-Conduct of workshop with key LGA officers to review community needs, LGA challenges and create Development priority list for LGA
